Velvet Media

So I  chewing over a Idea today about my old campaign consulting company I had a few years ago.Cannon Strategies was my old company.  I had a partner at the time, and we work allot campaigns together, mostly Republican in st Charles county and a few Democrats in the st. Louis city. We had some small success  with our strategies company, we did printing, mailing, and design work. At the time  I really enjoyed the work that went into design of the mail peaces, over time I felt that each layout become better than the last. I felt that  each mail item became more of a piece of art work. Over time my old partner decided to go out on his own, and Cannon Strategies soon closed up shop. I have always missed the layout work on the mail pieces.  I have  dabble in some myspace flyer's for friends b days and for some parties.  Now with the involvement with  Underodogs sport bar I have  decided to open a new printing and design company but this time I am not just focus on Campaign printing, I am going to be a little more broad in the type of work I am going to focus on. The name of the new company is Velvet Media. YOU ask how I came up with this name. ??? Well two things popped into mine, One was the old club from Washington street from way back, and the other was the velvet rope that people use to rope of the VIP areas, and from that Velvet Media is born.  I have had the LLC since July 07 so it has taken almost 2 years for me to put this in motion.  I even have  my first project I am under taking which is a Local Missouri Sports Calender that I am going to try and sell in local business in the area. With part of the proceeds going to a Charity. Stay tune for the updated photo shoots. 

Water Tower Place

So last night I had set up a meeting with the city to see if, I could developed a small track of land into some rental units. There were 5 home owners that join the property. Needless to say all 5 showed up to to tell me not to build on the open ground. What I cant understand is the growth happens because people move to a area , than how come these home owners want to stop growth in there own backyard, the comments made during the meeting they asked for me to build somewhere else, The home owners asked me to build a grocery store on the north side of town,  In order for a grocery store to even happen the head count has to increase before one will come.  It was if they were only concern with themselves, I do understand the concern with the water run off with the lot, but all that would be taken care of with the detention pond. They were wondering why the south side of O'Fallon gets all the new stores.... Well folks it because out of 70K people 65K people live south of hwy 70. Needless to say that is why there are 5 grocery stores there. I am going to work to smooth over the home owners with this project, and see if i can get 12 units on this ground. Belive me I am not saying that my little 12 unit project will bring a store on the north side of town, but every little house does help get it closer to happening. This would also employ alot of local Union trades man in the area. We need to look out side the box and realize that these small projects like this in O'Fallon are whats going to keep the economy in O'Fallon moving forward and not backwards where the government has to start taxing more... .

may 26th Underdogs

So i have a opportunity to buy into the old spybar and become a minority owner in the new  sports lounge. I have been working on this deal for over a month now to put together the cost and come up with the best Ideas on how to re invent the bar into a nice place to come and watch the games. 

Indy 500 for the first time ever

To start the trip all i can say is that me and winters always seem  to come up with some Idea about going to some sports event, with as little planing as possible.  After talking with the Doug earlier in the week about the race, i was kinda on the fence about going. It seems like a great Idea when the person calls, that it is something that you should go out and do. With it being    my  1yr anniversary  with Sarah I thought It would be a great Idea to take Doug up on his offer and figure out how to get tickets once we got up there. With Sarah having lived in the area before moving to ST Louis I thought maybe she could show me and Doug around. Well Sarah had to work and was unable to leave at midnight the day of the race. I figured that this time I would not back out on Doug and do the trip up and back in a day . Needless to say the race was something I would of never thought I would of enjoyed. I have to say it is by far the best sporting event I have ever gone to, and there are no words to describe how intense the race was. I understand now why racing is so much fun. I still cant get into it on TV but in person it is something to be amazed at. I cant wait until I get to go to another race .
